Edvance delivers safe and high-performance new nuclear projects around the world, helping to build a carbon-neutral future.
Edvance is the architect of the Nuclear Island for EPR reactors. A subsidiary of EDF and Framatome, the company is involved in major projects including Flamanville 3 and EPR2 in France, Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C in Great Britain, the development of NUWARD SMR design.
Hinkley Point C
Two EPR reactors, each with a capacity of 1,600 MWe, are currently under construction in Somerset. Edvance and its subsidiary, EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E), are involved as the nuclear island designer and technical integrator, deploying the full range of their expertise: civil engineering studies for construction, process and equipment specifications for electromechanical installation works, preparation for the future commissioning tests of the two reactors, and the demonstration of the plant’s safety.
Sizewell C
A replica of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C will house two EPR reactors generating low-carbon electricity equivalent to around 7% of the UK's electricity production. Edvance is the architect and Responsible Designer for the Sizewell C Nuclear Island, carrying out the engineering studies required to adapt the EPR design to the site's specific requirements while maintaining a replication-based approach.
Flamanville 3
The first project in France to build a next-generation nuclear power plant based on EPR technology. Edvance provided the engineering design and managed the majority of the Nuclear Island contracts during construction. Today, Edvance is carrying out the design studies and managing the contracts required for the plant's first ten-yearly outage and comprehensive inspection (VC1). Edvance also provides ongoing support to the operator through its local engineering teams.
EPR2
An optimised version of the EPR, the EPR2 aims to renew part of France's nuclear fleet and to become part of the diversified, low-carbon energy mix of the future. Through its EPCCi role, Edvance is the architect of the EPR2 nuclear island.
Jaitapur
With 6 nuclear reactors, the JNPP project is the most ambitious EPR project to date. As a subcontractor of EDF, Edvance will deliver the engineering and manage the contracting of the nuclear island of the planned power plant.
